Suggested Summer Reading List

Dear Parents and Students

The authors and titles on the list have been chosen as suggested summer reading for our middle school students. The list is varied in genre, interest, and ability levels. Each student should be able to find something appropriate. Parents are encouraged to become involved in the selection process.

Each student MUST read a minimum of two books this summer. This is in accordance with the Rhode Island State Standards. Language Arts teachers will collect the attached two coupons from each child as evidence that the summer reading requirement has been fulfilled. Parental signature indicates that parents have witnessed the child reading and completing these books. In September, Language Arts teachers will present their individual expectations so that the students are awarded opportunities for class credit. Readers are to turn in only their coupons at the start of school.

This list suggests titles and authors and is not meant to be restrictive. With parent approval, a student may read authors and titles no indicated on this list.
