Dear Parents/Guardians:
Eighth grade students will be beginning the transition process to North Kingstown High School. During the next few months students will be discussing possible high school courses that support their academic goals and interests. We strongly encourage students to converse with their parents regarding high school placement. Your child will be receiving several items, which include: a Program of Studies, a Grade 9 Course Selection Sheet 2011-2012, a Student Schedule Request Form, and a Core Academic Recommendation Sheet. Please review these materials with your child to ensure that academic recommendations and electives are appropriate. In the event that you disagree with a teacher's recommendation, please note the following: · Teachers make recommendations based on the student’s work habits and academic ability. · A conversation between the parent and teacher must take place before any changes will be made to a student’s schedule. · I understand that I must submit this form with the appropriate signatures by TBA.
Students will be registering for freshman courses on March 10, 2011. You will receive a formal copy of your child's schedule for the 2011-2012 school year TBA.
