![]() Thus far, students have been working on the Freedom Pen Project during this trimester experience. Each student has made a handcrafted slim line pen to donate to the troops overseas defending our country. A letter will accompany each pen from the student who made the pen expressing their concern, encouragement, and support for their dedication and service. Please take a look at the pens in the Freedom Pen Project link on this site for pictures of student's efforts and product completion. The third trimester has yielded 60 pens for the troops.
Students have also been involved in researching, selecting, and designing individual products for themselves. Some students have dedicated their production solely to the freedom pen project by making multiple pens. The third trimester students have helped the program to succeed in it's goal of making 200 pens for the soldiers this year.
A special thanks goes out to all of the boys and girls that helped DMS in achieving this production goal. I am very proud of your effort, hard work, and dedication to getting this mission accomplished.
The purchase of a recondition CarveWright Woodworking System(www.carvewright.com) has generated a new fire in the design and creation of signs for students and their wildest dreams. Students utilize a computer software application called Designer and layout their signs via a laptop computer. Next they upload their product to a storage card and then plug the card into the CNC carving machine which then carves their creations. It is very exciting to watch and the students love this exposure to a new state of the art technology.
Please checkout the slide show below to get a glimpse of the products that the students have created and remember to stay Cool with the Gang!!!! |
