The Asthma Walk fundraiser is to benefit the American Lung Association of RI. Donations go towards RI asthma programs and research.  RI has one of the highest rates of asthma in the country and is the most prevalent chronic disease for children.  WMS has a large number of students with asthma.

The Lung Association's actual Asthma Walk is in Providence on May 17th.  It is a 5K.  WMS is planning to do the "virtual" Asthma Walk on May 16th with a rain date of May 19th.  Students/staff choosing to participate must register .  We are team "Casbu Challengers").  I also have donation forms.  Team members obtain tax-deductible donations from people they know.  Companies may match donations.  Donations may be checks (to American Lung Association of RI (ALARI) or cash. Online donations for credit cards. 

 I hope to have fundraiser participants walk around the athletic field from approximately 1:15 to the end of the day.  If teachers were willing, remaining students could join us and walk about 2:10.  Leadership will be assisting with this community project.

Our students do outstanding community service projects with support of the school staff and community. This support is greatly appreciated. WMS raised $2,907.21 for this very worthwhile cause.   Go Wickford!
